Why am I here? That’s the heart-question all kids are asking. And that’s where service comes in. Giving kids places and opportunities to serve through all the phases of their life helps them answer that question. It gives them purpose and helps them understand where they fit in a bigger story.

Through serving, kids connect with a world that’s bigger than just their neighborhood. They become more aware of the needs of others. As their faith deepens, their empathy and compassion deepens too.

Families with children ages K-12th invited to be a part of the Family Mission Trip to Miami. In the past we have painted walls, mulched playgrounds, gave out lunches to the homeless through a local church, thrown a birthday party at a Children''s Home and worked sorting and labeling clothing for a clothes pantry.

Family Mission Trip to Miami with DOOR Ministries. DOOR stands for Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection. They work with area missions and ministries to coordinate mission projects in the Miami area.

Friday, February 12 – Sunday, February 14. We will leave from Harvest at 4 PM on Friday. We will be carpooling, or you may drive your own vehicle. Please bring a snack to eat in the car because we will be eating dinner late. We will turn to Harvest by 5 PM on Sunday.

We will be housed at Christ the King Lutheran church located at 11295 SW 57th Ave Miami, FL 33156

What happens: On Friday we will have dinner and orientation with a DOOR representative. We will do some team building activities and learn more about what we will be doing that weekend. Saturday will be full of our mission projects. Saturday evening we will eat dinner out together. On Sunday morning we may serve breakfast and worship with the homeless. We will have lunch and debrief at DOOR and then head home.

The cost is $100 for adults and $80 for kids 6-10. Cost for kids under 6 is $50. This covers meals, lodging, materials and a t-shirt. All forms and payment balance must be turned in at Harvest by January 17. On Thursday, February 11 we will be commissioned during the 6:48 service that night.
