Core Values
COMMITMENT
Statement:
With all that we are and all that we have, we honor God.
Scripture: Psalm 37: 5
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in God; and God will act.
COMMUNITY
Statement:
We are diverse strangers being transformed through Christ into one body of friends.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:12-14
For just as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body - Jews or Greeks, slaves or free - and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many.
GROWTH
Statement:
Through community worship, education, and small group fellowship, we are growing personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
Scripture: Acts 2:46-47
Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
HOSPITALITY
Statement:
Following Jesus’ example, we are inviting, welcoming and caring for people who are seeking a place to belong.
Scripture: 1 Peter 4:9-10
Be hospitable to one another without complaining. Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.
LOVE
Statement:
We are learning to make God’s greatest commandment our greatest gift.
Scripture: Matthew 22: 37-39
He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ “
MISSION
Statement:
We are responding to God’s call to open our hands and hearts with generosity and goodwill to serve those in need.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 15:11
Since there will never cease to be some in need on the earth, I therefore command you, “Open your hand to the poor and needy neighbor in your land.”
PARTNERING
Statement:
We are called by Christ to do the work of ministry together.
Scripture: Luke 10: 1-2
After this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go. He said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into God’s harvest.
WITNESS
Statement:
We are enabled by God to speak and live our faith at work, at home, and beyond.
Scripture: 2 Timothy 1: 7-8
For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of a self-discipline. Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel relying on the power of God….
WORSHIP
Statement:
We are putting God first by honoring the Sabbath together.
Scripture: Psalm 100:2
Worship the Lord with gladness; come into God’s presence with singing.
